Career Background

  • Mr. Li is one of the most recognized and respected athletes and sports figures in China. During his 17 years of gymnastics, Mr. Li won a total of 14 world championships in domestic and international gymnastics competitions. Mr. Li was commonly known as the “Prince of Gymnastics”, and considered by many in China to be a national hero.
  • In addition to his sporting achievements, Mr. Li is also a successful entrepreneur with significant operational expertise and turnaround experiences. Li founded the namesake sporting goods brand, Li-Ning in 1989, which has grown to become one of the most successful sports related brands in China. Mr. Li is the Executive Chairman, Joint Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Li Ning Corporation Limited (“Li Ning Co.”), which owns and operates Li-Ning brand. Li Ning Co. was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (2331.HK) in June 2004, and had a market capitalization of over HK$200 billion based on the closing share price as of January 21, 2022. Li Ning Co. had an annual revenue of RMB14.5 billion and net profit of RMB1.7 billion for FY2020. As of September 30, 2021, Li Ning Co. operated 6,940 points of sale in China.
  • Mr. Li is also the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Viva Goods Company Limited(8032.HK), which announced the acquisition of 66.6% equity stake in Bossini INT’L via its 80%-owned joint venture in May 2020. Bossini INT’L owns and operates Bossini, a well-known mass market apparel brand with significant presence in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Greater China.
  • Mr. Li has dedicated the past over 20 years in building one of the world’s leading consumer lifestyle businesses, and making great contributions to the development of the sporting goods industry in China. His contribution as a world class athlete and successful business operator has been recognized, and he served as the last torchbearer at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, igniting the Olympic flame.
  • In October 2009, Mr. Li was appointed by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) as “WFP Goodwill Ambassador Against Hunger”.
